“Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh.”
Galatians 3:3
Who do I think I am? Do I have some great wisdom to offer? Have I made some great impact on society deserving of praise? Do I merit a standing ovation for getting all the laundry washed, dried, folded, AND put away? (Haven’t done that yet.)
It is so easy for us as “believers” to view ourselves incorrectly. We set up expectations and measurements for ourselves and others that are not of God. We are not called to do and be for the Lord. We are called to respond as He has already finished the work. Respond to His Son, to His voice, to His word.
I am thankful today that God has chosen to remind me of His sovereignty and my frail human condition. “With man, this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
Lord,
I am in awe about the finished work. As you see by my fretting and my vain efforts and my striving, I don’t always get it. Forgive me, Lord. Forgive me. Help me to rejoice in the simple fact that You will perfect that which concerns me. Thank you for bearing me up and for clearing the way when my windshield gets a little foggy.
I love you, Lord.
Amen
