Start Talkin’: A Christian Book Club

By Codie Brenner

Book Clubs are today’s answer to a night out with the girls. Instead of focusing on eating or pampering ourselves, this is an opportunity to discuss and challenge ourselves to grow spiritually through the lives of the characters we meet in the pages of a book.

My original desire was to go back and read Christian Literature I missed by going to public school. Overall, this is a chance to grow in the appreciation of reading and in relationships with friends through fellowship, prayer and group discussion.

My group of five ladies has just started and we are set to meet this spring to discuss our first book. You can include dessert, coffee, and/or a meal if it works for your group.
Each month the hostess selects a book. Suggested criteria: Christian and/or of high moral content, not Bible study or devotional, fiction or non-fiction (as in biography), sensitive in genre (some may not appreciate science fiction for example).

Hosting: Take turns hosting Book Club and choosing what book to read. You can choose whether to host it at your home or a local coffee shop. Each month, at the end of the book talk, announce the new book and have the hostess for the following month pass out their chosen selection. The hostess facilitates the discussion for their selection. Close in prayer.
