Calvary Christian Academy is a ministry of Calvary Chapel San Diego. We offer Guidance, Support, and Accountability for homeschool families. Calvary Christian Academy's Independent Study Program is available for record-keeping, social interaction, and educational opportunities. Your commitment to your children’s education will be supported by Calvary Christian Academy. Homeschooling has its share of difficulties and challenges, but the Lord is faithful and will honor your commitment by empowering you with His wisdom and strength.
Calvary Christian Academy - HomeschoolingCalvary Christian Academy's ISP was established to assist homeschooling families whose beliefs are consistent with those of our church. Jesus Christ is the foundation of our church, and our beliefs are consistent with the true and living Word of God. (Statement of Faith) We assist parents in fulfilling their legal requirements, including the filing of a private school affidavit, maintaining student cumulative files and keeping other relevant records as required by law. Calvary Christian Academy requires mandatory HSLDA membership. Calvary Christian Academy Academic ServicesCumulative Records - Your student’s permanent cumulative records are maintained in the school office at Calvary Christian Academy. CCA-ISP will obtain them from your previous school, and should you decide to leave CCA-ISP, we will forward them for you. Each month you will turn in a worksheet for your students showing what they have done for the month. These worksheets will be kept in your student’s cum file along with the attendance records that you fill out and work samples of your child’s schoolwork. Resource Lending Library - CCA-ISP has educational CD's available to loan to CCA-ISP parents to help them fine-tune their teaching skills. We also have curriculum books to help you see and evaluate the curriculum that is available in the home school market. Stanford Achievement Testing - The Stanford Achievement Test (SAT) will be required each spring to all students sixth grade and above. It is recommended for younger students and is available upon request. Standardized testing is to help you, the teacher, see where strengths and weaknesses are in your student. This can be very valuable in determining curriculum choices for the following year. Calvary Christian Academy Activities As members of CCA-ISP, we have the privilege of participating in some of Calvary Christian Academy’s events and activities. We will be given ACSI membership benefits. Some of these benefits include a Spelling Bee, Creative Writing Festival, Math Olympics, and grade-appropriate Speech Meets. At times the CCA teachers may want to include us in their class field trips. These field trips have proven to be both educational and fun, as well as a good opportunity for our home school students to fellowship with the CCA students. CCA-ISP will participate in school pictures in the fall. We will also have a school yearbook for the ISP. Fees for Calvary Christian Academy Independent Study Program 2007-2008 School Year: Registration fees: Elementary - $90 per child Jr. High - $120 per child High School - $150 per child (Registration fees are non-refundable, unless the school does not accept enrollment) ISP Membership fees: 1 student - $35 per month 2 students - $40 per month 3+ students - $45 per month Senior High ISP students have the option to take up to three consecutive classes at CCA with the CCA students and faculty. Sports are included in the class choices. Fees for each class are $110 per month. The student will participate on a daily basis in the classes that they are registered for. This will enable parents to have their child get a private school education, at a minimal cost, in subjects that may be difficult for the parents to teach. This also gives the student an opportunity to participate in sports on a private school team. As we implement a Classic Education, we will have Prescribed Dress (uniforms) for all grades at the CCA campus. If your ISP student is on campus at CCA for an activity, class, or field trip, they must comply with the Prescribed Dress Code. The cost for the Prescribed Dress is the responsibility of the parent. Prescribed Dress is to be purchased solely through the current CCA designated apparel source. Calvary Christian Academy no longer accepts payment at the school. All payments are made through FACTS Tuition Service. Please call the office for details. HSLDA – Home School Legal Defense Association membership is mandatory for families in the CCA-ISP. HSLDA represents home schooling families legally should legal issues arise. To download the Calvary Christian Academy Independent Study Program application click here.
