When All is Said and Done

When all is said and done
At the end of any given day
What do we have left,
Except the privilege to pray.

Not energy. Not self will.
No opinions left to spout.
Only praise and thank yous
Are what ought be spilling out.

There are men and women across the sea,
Away from friends and family,
Fighting for the right to free,
People just like you and me.

And yet we find our selves complaining
About the color of our hair,
The laundry piles, two miles of traffic,
And litter everywhere.
Dishes, diapers, feet that hurt
Potholes, people, and just plain dirt.

STOP! Forgive me, Lord.

God bless the soldier
Bless the nurse, the doctor and the child.
God be with all those left alone
Those facing various trials.

We call upon Your promises
We stand upon Your Word
For captives held in Babylon
Let our cries be heard.

And somewhere in the darkness
When lives are on the line
Be the guiding light of hope
Saving just in time.
